To our NHG Family:
On June
1, 2001, Houston North Gymnastics and Tumbling Center came to life,
with 25 boys who, along with their parents, wanted the opportunity
to pursue their gymnastics in a program that emphasized the
philosophies and objectives we live by at Houston North Gymnastics.
As we enter our eighth year at our current location, we thought it
would be a good idea to reiterate the core principles that make
Houston North Gymnastics the program it is today.
-
Every child is important and deserves our best.
-
The
gym must be a safe haven for every child.
-
Respect must be unconditional. Respect is received,
when it is first given.
-
Learning is its own reward. Each child needs to have new
learning opportunities everyday.
-
Gymnastics must be fun. The challenges, successes,
friendships, and the unlimited opportunities to learn are the
greatest fun.
Once
again, we must thank the people who believed in us from the start,
for without them, none of this would be possible. We have added many
new friends to our program, and each is important to us all.
If you
are new to Houston North, we welcome you to a very exceptional group
of people and a special place for kids to learn, to welcome
challenges, and to achieve success. We are very happy to have you as
part of our Houston North family.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I
join a class or change classes after the session begins?
Generally, there is no problem as long as there is space available
in the class you desire; however, some of the more advanced classes
may have late start restrictions. Tuition will be prorated for the
rest of the session.
What if
I drop a class?
There
are no refunds or credits for dropping a class or transferring to a
class that meets for less time during a session. Once a session
begins, you are in that class for the entire term,
regardless of attendance, except for a medical exception. We reserve
the right to assess a processing fee for excessive need and use of
schedule changes and make-up classes.
What is
the Medical Exemption Policy?
For
medical reasons that are verified in writing by a doctor, you will
be granted a credit prorated from THE DATE WE RECEIVE
the letter from the doctor. A retroactive request for Medical
Credit cannot be granted because we have lost the opportunity to
fill that spot.
Can I
make up a class if I miss?
YES!
Your child will be given an opportunity to do a make up class
during the session of the absence. PLEASE CALL the office to
schedule your make up class.
What
should I wear to class?
· Girls
may wear any color leotard (no skirts on the leotards); soccer
shorts or bike shorts may be worn over the leotard; girls may also
wear a t-shirt over their leotard. Use scrunchies or plain elastic
ponytail holders to keep the hair pulled back.
· Boys
wear a T-shirt (no muscle shirts) and soccer shorts. Long baggy
shorts and shorts with pockets, belt loops, and/or snaps or buttons
are not acceptable.
· NO
jewelry is allowed; it a serious safety risk.
Can I
bring a snack or something to drink?
Food is
not allowed in the gym. If you wish to bring something to drink,
only water may be brought into the gym – no Gatorade, juice, etc.,
is allowed (FYI- the latest research in youth athlete nutrition
clearly states Gatorade and other “Sports Drinks” are effective only
AFTER the end of a workout. Even more effective only AFTER the end
of a workout. Even more effective is LOW FAT CHOCOLATE MILK!)
How
many classes per week should I take?
We
recommend that everyone start with 1 or 2 hours per week. If your
child shows a strong desire to increase his/her hours at the gym,
then consider an increase in gym time. We urge parents to NOT try to
teach their children at home or to push them to do extra work at
home. This inevitably leads to problems later.
